The Turkish white cheese Beyaz Peynir can be use to make an excellent, healthy and delicious dip in just 10 minutes. The Mediterranean diet recipe that will be provided consists of several Mediterranean diet components.

White cheese is in the dairy products category of the Mediterranean diet pyramid and should be taken frequently, 2-3 times a week. The white cheese component has been referenced in our article, Mediterranean diet – the white cheese component. There are many types of Mediterranean white cheeses and the Beyaz Peynir is probably the most popular white in Turkey. Its nutritional benefits and history have been referenced in our article, Mediterranean Diet foods – Beyaz Peynir.

The recipe, Mediterranean Beyaz Peynir Dip, which will be provided, is for 4 people and in this recipe we use a Mediterranean culinary herb, Basil, and virgin Mediterranean olive oil with all the known nutritional and health benefits.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz of Beyaz Peynir crumbled
  • 4 oz of sundried tomatoes, preferably ones that are marinated
  • 4 Tbsp of  virgin Mediterranean olive oil
  • 6.5 oz of artichoke hearts, drained
  • 1 Tbsp of capers
  • 1 small bunch of basil leaves.
  • 4 black olives

Preparation:

Preparation time is 10 minutes and since no cooking is involved your dip will be ready in 10 minutes.

Before you start set aside 1 sundried tomato and 1 basil leaf and the 4 black olives that will be used for garnishing the dip.

Put in your blender the basil leaves, the tomatoes, the olive oil, the Beyaz Peynir, the drained artichokes and capers. Blend till they reach to the desired degree that would enable the spread.

Pour the mixture in a serving dish of appropriate size and garnish with the sundried tomato, black olives and basil leaf.

Your dip is ready.

If you desire to serve a warm dip, place the dip in the oven for about 20 minutes and then serve.

In both cases serve with crackers, carrot and celery sticks.

Bon appétit, afiyet olsun.
