Feta cheese is the famous white cheese from Greece. It is a basic component of the Mediterranean diet and part of the everyday eating habits of the Greek population. Since this Sunday the whole world will be celebrating Father’s day, we present a simple and popular recipe for your Sunday lunch or dinner. After all the Mediterranean diet pyramid allows for red meet a few times a month and father’s day is a special day.
The recipe is very simple and tasty.
Ingredients:
1 lb of ground beef
1/3 lb feta cheese
2 slices stale, dry bread
2 eggs
1 medium onion
6 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon oregano
1 / 2 tsp paprika powder
1 / 2 teaspoon cumin
1 oz parsley
salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the mince in a large bowl.
Wash the parsley, chop half of it and add it to the minced meat. Then put the rest aside in dry place.
Then chop the onion and add it to the minced meat together with paprika, oregano, cumin and salt.
Then soak the bread in water, squeeze well and add it to meat along with eggs.
Stir well all the mixture until smooth and homogeneous. Bake the mixture into 8 burgers. Slice the feat cheese into 8 equal portions and place each piece in the center of each burger. Cover the cheese by closing well into the burger. Cook the burgers in a heavy skillet with a little olive oil, this the secret for cooking the burger, for two minutes on each side.
Serve with coarsely chopped parsley that was left aside.
